22.12.2022 - General Update and Seasons Greetings

Well, here we are, almost at the end of yet another rather challenging year but at least it's been productive and we'd just like to say a very big thank you to everybody who has supported us by purchasing or helping to promote, play, review, discuss etc. our latest studio album 'The Last Great Adventurer' over the last few months and which has actually been so well received by the prog fraternity and beyond, better in fact than we were expecting or could ever have hoped for.

It's also been great to see so many new fans come on board, many of whom have invested in our back catalogue as well as the new studio album. All such support is very much appreciated as it helps to keep the good ship Galahad afloat and fund our various ongoing projects.

We are still awaiting vinyl LP versions of TLGA ,which I'm told should now be with us in February 2023, so watch this space but don't hold your breath. Obviously, we will share any news when it is forthcoming.

I'd also just like to say that we have found a few more CD copies of our first two albums 'In a Moment of Complete Madness' and 'Nothing Is Written' which are now available to order from our merchandise page for the first time in over a year for those who maybe interested in delving in to distant musical past.

Also, to bring things bang up to date we'd like to announce that the follow up to The Last Great Adventurer is currently being mixed by Karl Groom and will, hopefully, be released in late summer of 2023. 'The Long Goodbye' will consist of seven tracks in total and will also include a few variations on the Galahad 'sound' but all in a good way we are sure. More news will follow on this release in due course.

In the meantime we'd just like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and successful new year.

06.09.2022 - NEW GALAHAD STUDIO ALBUM - THE LAST GREAT ADVENTURER

It's been a while but here is some great news at last from Galahad HQ:

Avalon Records is very pleased and proud to announce the release of a brand new Galahad studio album ‘The Last Great Adventurer’. This latest opus, the band’s eleventh studio album, has been several years in the making and many of the songs on the album actually pre-date the previous ‘Seas of Change’ album from 2018! Plus, due the constraints of the recent Covid emergency, the album was recorded at several locations over the last couple of years by the various band members and finally edited, mixed and mastered, as usual, by engineer/producer extraordinaire Karl Groom (Threshold/Dragonforce/Pendragon/Arena/Yes etc.).

As well as the long established nucleus of Stu Nicholson (vocals), Dean Baker (keyboards) and Spencer Luckman (drums) ‘The Last Great Adventurer’ is also the first Galahad studio album to feature Mark Spencer (Twelfth Night/Alan Reed) on bass guitar throughout as well as making some great contributions on backing vocals and triangle! Lee Abraham, now very much established as the band’s guitarist, also adds his own inimitable stamp to the album with some great guitar playing and a few blinding trademark guitar solos.

The main album consists of five tracks plus two bonus tracks on the CD including, at long last, a new version of ‘Another Life Not Lived’ originally written by the late and much missed Neil Pepper and Stu back in 2009. Musically the album has a crisp contemporary sound but also still includes plenty nods to the band’s progressive heritage particularly on ‘Omega Lights’ and on the closing title track which is a very personal tribute to Stuart’s father, Bob.

‘The Last Great Adventurer’ CD will be available to pre-order directly from our official band website (www.galahadonline.com) from 18th September 2022. The CD version will be released officially on 24th October 2022 followed by the digital download/streaming version on 7th November 2022 which will be available from all the usual platforms including our official Galahad Bandcamp site (https://galahad1.bandcamp.com). The Bandcamp digital version will also contain radio edits of both ‘Alive’ and ‘Omega Lights’.

Vinyl LP versions in a gatefold sleeve will be also released at some point jointly with our friends at Oskar Productions in Poland, hopefully towards the end of 2022. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a release date at this time but will make an announcement as soon we know when then they will become available. The LP will be available on both standard black and coloured vinyl and will also contain a CD version of the album.

Track listing:

Alive (8.20)

Omega Lights (10.05) Part One: Λ (Instrumental) Part Two: Ω

Blood Skin and Bone (8.17)

Enclosure 1764 (4.07)

The Last Great Adventurer (10.35)

CD Bonus Tracks:

Normality of Distance (5.50)

Another Life Not Lived (7.55)

22.09.2021 - FOLLOWING GHOSTS NOW AVAILABLE ON DOUBLE GATEFOLD VINYL

After an unintended radio silence for several months we at last have some positive news of Galahad activity...

Following on from the release of the very expansive ‘Following Ghosts’ 3CD set last year we are now very pleased to announce that, finally after being delayed somewhat by recent world events and in conjunction with our friends at Oskar Production in Poland, the album will be released as a rather lovely double gatefold vinyl LP for the first time ever.

The version on the LP will be Karl Groom’s 2019 mix which was painstakingly put together from the digitised original two inch 24 track tapes which date back to 1997. This mix has freshened up the original tracks breathing new life in to this twenty-four year old album.

The ‘Following Ghosts’ LP is available in several versions including a standard black vinyl version, a limited edition gold version (200 copies only) and very limited orange and red splatter disc version of which only 100 copies have been pressed.

Each LP also contains a CD of ‘Alternative Ghosts’ which contains recently recorded alternative versions of every track from the original album.

The black and gold versions of the LP are now available to pre-order from our official website. www.galahadonline.com. We hope to commence shipping albums during the first week of October.

The Following Ghosts LP (in all available colours) can also be ordered from the Polish partner ‘Independent Music Market’ official website: independentmusicmarket.com

We are obviously very happy to ship worldwide but our overseas friends need to be aware that because of global increases in postage and carriage costs in the last couple of years or so the carriage costs are higher than we had hoped but you can rest assured that we will only charge the actual cost of postage (in some cases slightly less!) and not mark it up any way.

Track listing: Side One 1. Myopia (4.53) 2. Imago (5.56) 3. A Short Reflection on Two Past Lives – Part One (3.52) 4. Karma for One (6.05)

Side Two 5. Perfection Personified (4.50) 6. Bug Eye (13.54)

Side Three 7. A Short Reflection on Two Past Lives – Part Two (6.01) 8. Ocean Blue (7.12) 9. Rejuvenation (2.13) 10. Easier Said Than Done (4.29)

Side Four 11. Shine: (14.14) i. Like A Bolt Out of the Blue ii. The Pain She Feels Inside

06.09.2020 - NEW ALBUM: Galahad Electric Company - When The Battle Is Over

Avalon Records is proud to present an ‘unexpected’ new album by Galahad off shoot project the ‘Galahad Electric Company’.

During these strange ‘Covid’ times in which we have found ourselves over the last few months it appears that Dean Baker and Stu Nicholson have tapped in to a rich vein of creativity resulting in a substantial collection of new music and songs. Therefore, the time seemed right to re-activate the ’Galahad Electric Company’ for the first time in over 20 years resulting in a brand new album ‘When The Battle Is Over’.

Most of the album was written between the middle of May and the end of June 2020 and is split in to two distinct sections, the first part being ‘Suite 2020’ a self-explanatory and somewhat ironic title which consists of five linked tracks. The second half of the album consist of five separate tracks, somewhat diverse in nature.

Also, due to more constraints than normal as far as the recording process was concerned a certain amount of experimentation was involved with some of the songs, a few of which were ad-libbed and written in an almost ‘stream of consciousness’ manner!

Stu remarked “This is the first album we have ever recorded whereby neither of us have actually been in the same building at the same time at any point! The actual main writing and recording process only took about five weeks in May and June which is very quick for us! In fact, it was a very easy, fun and quick album to write and record which should, in theory, always be the case but quite often isn’t. “

The end result is an eclectic mixture of music and songs, examples of which are an adaptation of a poem by the famous 19th Century Dorset dialect poet and friend of Thomas Hardy, William Barnes (My Orcha’d in Linden Lea) and even Stu’s cat Sammy Gorgeous contributes ‘meows’ to ‘Mysterioso'! There are also nods to dance, folk, ambient, krautrock and even opera and gospel influences, all scattered throughout.

'When The Battle Is Over' is now available to pre-order from our official web site merchandise page. Although  the album will be officially released on Monday 5th October and be available on CD  from the official Galahad website as well as from the Galahad Bandcamp site where it can also be downloaded/streamed. It will also be available to purchase from all the usual on line platforms.

In the meantime, the album will be preceded by an EP, ‘Open Water’ which will also feature a new version of an old Galahad classic from the mid 1980s ’Through The Looking Glass’ which has been re-worked and re-recorded by Stu and Dean as well a 'laid bare' version of the 'Open Water'.

The single will be available to download/stream from Monday 14th September from the official Galahad Bandcamp site as well as from Apple Music, Amazon etc. A video to accompany ‘Open Water’ will also be available to watch online.

Track listing:

Part A: Suite 2020

1. Restoration (Intro)

2. When the Battle is Over

3. Be Careful…

4. All that Binds Us

5. The Inquisition (Intermezzo)

Part B:

6. Letting Go

7. Mysterioso

8. 1976

9. My Orcha’d in Linden Lea

10. Open Water

20.07.2020 - FOLLOWING GHOSTS - EXPANDED EDITION

We are extremely pleased to announce a very comprehensive re-release of our 1998 ‘Following Ghosts’ album. This new expansive release brings together all of the ‘Following Ghosts’ related material and consists of a three CD package containing a totally brand new 2019 re-mix of the original ‘Following Ghosts’ album by Karl Groom, using tracks taken from the original master tapes which we managed to digitise on to one 64GB pen drive from the 6 original large and extremely heavy two inch tape reels!

CD2 ‘Alternative Ghosts’ contains new alternative versions of every track from the original album, again engineered, mixed and mastered by Karl Groom and featuring Mark Spencer on Bass on a Galahad album for the first time along with Lee on most of the guitars with a few contributions from Karl Groom and Roy Keyworth.

CD3 is a re-mastered version of the rather experimental ‘De-Constructing Ghosts’ album which was originally a separate companion release to the main album, under the name of the ‘Galahad Electric Company,’ back in 1999. This CD contains tracks written and arranged by various other musicians, DJs and re-mixers pieced together from the original Galahad multi-tracks resulting in completely different songs in most cases!

In many ways this was a comeback album, a fresh start after the difficult trials of the previous ‘Sleepers’ album which is also being re-released on vinyl LP for the first time. An album which seemed to polarise opinion at the time within Prog circles, mainly because of its diverse and, ironically, truly progressive nature. Twenty-two years later, we think it actually still sounds pretty fresh and perhaps will be assessed in a positive way in today’s more accepting musical climate as far so called ‘Progressive Rock’ is concerned.

This package includes new artwork, photos and notes by various band members and others who were involved at the time. The first 500 CDs will also contain a copy of the original CD booklet and a signed original CD tray inlay.

'Following Ghosts -Expanded Edition' will be available to pre-order on CD from Monday 3rd August from our merchandise page and will be released officially on Monday 7th September. Orders will also be despatched during the week beginning 7th September.

A download/streaming version will also be available from our official Galahad Bandcamp site from Monday 7th September2020.

The 2019 re-mixed version of the original album will also be available as a double LP on Gold coloured vinyl at some point in the near future, more details to follow once finalised.

12.08.2019 - LEE ABRAHAM TO RELEASE NEW CONCEPT ALBUM 'COMATOSE'

Here is some new and exciting Galahad related news: Our guitarist Lee is very proud to announce the imminent release of his new single song 'concept' album entitled 'Comatose'. The album will be released through F2 Music and also features, among others, Diane his wife and Mark Spencer from Galahad  on backing vocals.

The album can now be pre-ordered from here: Lee Abraham - Comatose

See press release below for more details:

Galahad guitarist and solo artist Lee Abraham will release his latest solo album, entitled “Comatose”, on Friday 27 September 2019 through F2 Records.

Inspired by his return to Galahad in 2017 and his subsequent contributions to the band’s single-song concept album “Seas of Change”, Lee has written and produced his own single-song concept album. Clocking in at around 47mins Comatose tells the story of a car crash victim who experiences flash backs while medical staff try to save his life. A deep and complex work that takes in a number of musical styles but all the while retaining the overall progressive rock sound.

Lee is joined once again by long-time musical partner Gerald Mulligan (Credo) on drums, Rob Arnold on piano, lead vocal excellence from Marc Atkinson (Riversea, Moon Halo) and backing vocals from Diane Abraham and Galahad colleague Mark Spencer. Artwork is once again co-ordinated by Robin Armstrong. Lee handles all guitars, all keyboards and for the first time since 2009’s “Black and White”, Lee has also recorded all the bass guitar too.

In the past, having previously explored long songs (2016’s “The Seasons Turn”), shorter, more commercial AOR inspired songs (2017’s “Colours”) and concept albums (2004’s “View from the Bridge”), this new single-song album is new territory for Lee. “I wanted to try something different again for the next album rather than just repeat previous work. I hope I have done that successfully and listeners enjoy the ride…… all 47 minutes of it!”

04.07.2019 - General News Update

We thought it was about time we updated our news page as we have been a bit quiet lately. The good news, however, is that we have been working on a very special 3CD re-issue project which is now nearing completion. More details to follow in due course.

Also, work is progressing well on new material which will form the basis of our next studio album. We will be going in Thin Ice in September to record drums on all the completed tracks, so more exciting times ahead. Hopefully, the as yet untitled new album will be released in 2020 which also happens to be our 35th anniversary year, thus a few shows will hopefully be planned too!

In the meantime we'd like to wish everyone a fun filled, happy and peaceful Summer. :-)

11.02.2019 - GALAHAD PLAY SCOTLAND...AGAIN

Just a reminder that in a few weeks we will be venturing back up to Scotland to play at the Backstage venue at the Green Hotel in Kinross on Saturday 16th March, which we are very much looking forward to. It will be one of only a few shows in 2019 and will also be one of the last occasions at which we will perform 'Seas of Change' in it's (almost) entirety, an album which has been received far better that we could have hoped for and one which still resonates as much now, if not more so than it did when it was first released almost exactly a year ago.

It would be lovely to see as many of our 'Northern' fraternity as possible as it is so rare that we get a chance perform in that particular neck of the woods as it were. :-)

Here is a link to the venue: Backstage at the Green Hotel, Kinross
